Addison Sentence Will Reverberate For Years

The jury in the Michael Addison murder trial turned in New Hampshire's first sentence of death in 50 years Wednesday, December 18. Judge Kathleen McGuire has yet to formally impose the death penalty, but she is not permitted to change the jury's decision. While the end of this phase of the case is complete, by no means does it mean closure to the issue. We and the nation will be hearing about it for years.

Pierce Law Donates 426 Food Items to the Friendly Kitchen

The Pierce Law community has donated 426 items to Concord's Friendly Kitchen. Organized by the Black Law Students Association, the drive collected 224 canned goods, 58 desserts, 35 boxes of pasta, 25 breakfast foods, and other assorted staples. Students delivered 10 boxes and 4 bags of food to Concord's only soup kitchen.

Initial Bar Results Impressive

Initial bar passage rates for 2008 Pierce Law graduates are "nothing less than impressive," says Mary Sheffer, director of Career Services. "29 of our students sat for the New Hampshire bar in July. Of those, 27 passed, giving a bar passage rate of 93%. Traditionally the average bar passage rate in this state hovers around 77%. Our rate of passage in other states that have reported is a remarkable 100%."
