Megan Hertler '11
PIC fellow, New Hampshire Public Defender’s Office, Concord, NH
Megan Hertler's fellowship was a “hybrid” that provided her with both legal and investigation experience. As a legal fellow, Megan conducted legal research, wrote memos and motions, and shadowed attorneys throughout their daily activities.
Hertler attended most courts in the area, as well as several jails, the prison and the parole board. Megan also experienced the investigation responsibilities of public defender work through interviewing witnesses and victims and preparing reports containing the information summarizing the evidence she gathered.
“An internship at the Public Defender is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in criminal law.”
